Obituary for
Polly E Ott (Oglesby)
Polly Emily Oglesby Ott
Born 29 January 1921, Simms, TX, passed 29 December 2019 at home in Inver Grove Heights. Preceded in death by husband, Willmar; daughter, Charlotte; sisters Lola Mae Bice and Bobbie Hunt; brothers, Joe Oglesby, Lloyd Oglesby, Pat Oglesby, Jack Oglesby, and Milton Oglesby. Survived by daughter Emily Ott; granddaughter Jennfier Hutchins; three great-grandchildren; sister Mattie Sue Harmon; and many nieces and nephews. While young, Polly worked with her parents and siblings on the family farm; during WWII she worked in an ordnance factory performing quality control; after the war she spent two years working in Tokyo, Japan while her husband was stationed there, and then the family lived four years in Germany; upon returning to the US she had a career working in healthcare patient accounting until retirement. Loving, compassionate, strong, fiercely independent, and with a lifelong love of learning, she modeled and strove to inculcate these attributes into her daughters and granddaughter. She was greatly loved and will be sorely missed. At her request there will be no service and a private interment. Memorials preferred to Second Harvest Heartland or your local food shelf.
